Forgotten your Microsoft password, or locked out? You can reset it yourself in a couple of minutes, any time of day, without waiting for us.
Reset a forgotten password
- Go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com.
- Enter your work email address, type the characters you see in the picture, then click Next.
- Prove it's you. You'll usually do this by approving a notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Enter your new password twice, then click Finish.
That's it. You can sign in with your new password straight away.
Change a password you know
If you know your current password and just want to change it:
- Go to myaccount.microsoft.com and sign in.
- Click Change password.
- Enter your current password, then your new password twice, and click Submit.
Choosing a good password
- Make it long. Three or four random words together is easy to remember and hard to guess.
- Don't reuse it. Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
- Avoid the obvious. No names, birthdays or your company name.
After you've changed it
Your other devices will ask for the new password the next time they connect. If Outlook or Teams on your phone keeps asking you to sign in, enter your new password there too.
