Setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA) for Microsoft 365

Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Microsoft 365 account. When you log in, you'll need to verify your identity using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone as well as your password.

Why it matters

Even if someone gets hold of your password, they can't access your account without the second verification step. MFA is one of the most effective security measures available.

How to set it up

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Sign into your account at office.com - if MFA has been enabled, you'll be prompted to set it up.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps - this usually involves scanning a QR code with the Authenticator app.
  4. Once linked, you'll be asked to approve a test notification to confirm it's working.

Lost or replaced your phone?

If you've lost your phone or got a new one, raise a ticket at support@saundersnetworks.com and we'll reset your MFA so you can set it up again on the new device.
